And yet another angle... I'll try not to dwell on this wreck, but it is good blog material!
I hope that my next post will be pictures of my new car, but we all know how motivated insurance companies are when it comes to paying out.

Most of you have seen this picture, but I thought my collection wasn't complete without it. I took this with my phone about 20 minutes after the accident. My SUV looks so tiny next to those rocks. I'm glad I took this picture; it really shows how hard it was snowing, which I didn't remember until I saw it. I guess it could have been hailing and I might not have noticed at that moment !

Ski trip 2007: An unexpected detour with a happy ending.

Really not much to tell, just your normal "lost traction on an icy mountain road and fell off with a thud" story. Actually it was a few thuds down a 40 or 50 ft embankment. Although we can't agree on how many times we rolled, the conservative guess is 2 1/4, but we did roll and bounce and land on our side. Some say 3 rolls but I don't want to embellish; it was bad enough already.

All in all, I have nothing to complain about. I started smiling about 3 minutes after we got out of the car and haven't stopped since; my face hurts worse from smiling than from the wreck. I have seen first hand what a wreck like this can do to the human body, so needless to say I am still amazed that we all walked away with minor cuts and lots of bruises. So as far as I'm concerned this was the best vacation ever! I've got my husband and my friends and we are home safe. I can't imagine what could top that.
Everyone climbed out of that heap in one piece - that's all I cared about. Everything else is and always will be insignificant. Not that I want to try this again next year or anything...
Jason would like to add that he is thankful that his last meal was not Dairy Queen. And he is pretty sure he will never live this down.

We talked and laughed for hours that night and for the long trip home; probably more than if we had actually gone skiing. We know how absurdly lucky we were and we all agree:
the sky was never more beautiful... once we figured out which way was up.
