This is Winston. He has an amazing ability to find the biggest sucker in the neighborhood because he showed up in MY kitchen last week. I gotta see if he can do that with lotto numbers...
I was cooking dinner and I looked down and there he stood, all three inches of him. All we can figure is that he got in through the hole in our garage door, which is hardly bigger than a golf ball. Of course, when you're a tiny kitten and you haven't eaten in days and its raining like hell, the hole doesn't have to be that big.
I was a little concerned that our big male cat MOFO would hurt him, but MOFO seem to be the only one that doesn't want to kill him. As a matter of fact, they seem to be buddies. I think MOFO would like Winston to stop trying to nurse on him, but otherwise they eat out of the same dish and sleep on each other. Who knew? Below is MOFO showing off his new buddy and how small the hole in the garage is, using his tail for scale. Thanks MOFO !!!
Winston is still unsure about us and stays in the garage most of the time. I've been sitting out in the garage and petting him while he eats ( canned food, 3-5 times a day. I wish I was a cat...). He stays hidden most of the time but is getting better day by day. I've got a feather on a string toy that he really likes and he is pretty fond of my camera strap, but otherwise he keeps his distance. Jason says that we need to find a home for Winston... so currently we are house hunting for a new home for Jason. I keep you updated on who gets voted off the island...Thursday, July 05, 2007
This new Google Blogger thing is a real pain in the ass - I had to reset my password three times!
Like I can remember it in the first place!!! Now I'm really screwed up!
It has been a wierd summer so far. It's been raining almost everyday and the "skeeters" are wicked, so I've been limiting my time outside. It has rained so much that the downtown Boys and Girls Club got really flooded. The hotel by the falls had a couple of feet of water in it's lobby and cars totally underwater in the parking lot. Floods in WF... What's next?... Locusts? ... Giant frogs?
My garden has gone wild and I really need to weed but I'm sure I'll end up anemic if I stay out there too long. Not to mention WEST NILE VIRUS...
I've got a shitload of beautiful tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers and Jalapenos that I am too chicken to go harvest! I have to dip myself in OFF spray to go out there and get them. I'm sure next year we will be in a drought again...
Okay so here are some floor pics:
Jason did most of the sawing and measuring while I rolled around on the floor in the glue.
For the record:
Putting down hardwood does not promote healthy relationships, and frankly I think it inceases your risk that your spouse might kill you with a rubber mallet.
I'll try to clean my house enough to take a picture of the finished product , but I really lack motivation so it may be a while.
Here's Jason modeling my car that he hasn't wrecked yet...
We went out to Lake Arrowhead with Jason's family for the 4th and did fireworks over the lake, which was fun except for the bugs. This is the first year that everyone could do fireworks because normally there is a burn ban, so there was quite the show in all directions. You know Texans; the only thing they love more than their fireworks are their firearms.
