My husband's brother Kris and wife Amy Asmus came to me in August of last year, because her front tooth crown had fallen out and shattered and she didn't have the $750 to get it fixed. In the past, Kris Asmus and Amy Asmus have not made good choices regarding money or say, staying employed, and have ruined their credit , so I very reluctantly co-signed to finance her crown. Stop shaking your head and keep reading, it gets better...

It was made very clear by me, to and agreed upon by, Kris and Amy Asmus of Wichita Falls, Texas, that the financing of said tooth would be the all that was co-signed upon and any further care was to be handled on their own. The dentist office finances through a company called Care Credit, which establishes a line of credit that can be used at some dentists, doctors, and vets offices. The tooth was fixed and, again, later that evening, the same financial discussion was had between my husband with both Kris and Amy , who again agreed to close and pay off the account and , if there was an issue in making the payments they were to contact us so we can make the payment, as we are very fond of our good credit. They agreed and couldn't thank us enough for our help.

February 18, 2008, the Care Credit company calls me to inform me that they are behind on the payments - so I of course call Kris and Amy . The assured me that they would pay online " right now" and that it was a simple miscalculation, and " oh, we are very sorry, and oh, no, it won't happen again". I see...
I called the Care Credit company back to get a payment history and a balance. ( anyone that has good credit should sit down for this part because its kinda like being kicked in the gut) . The balance on the account was and still is, and I will spell this out for the fun of it, Five Thousand -Six Hundred and Forty-four dollars.

"I'm sorry, Beg your Pardon, but it sounded like you said..." Yeah, its correct... She took my credit and got breast implants on Feb. 6th. Not only did she not close the account, like our verbal agreement stated, but she maxed it out. I had no idea that they had approved the account for $6000 and when I ask her what the limit was she said she didn't ask or care because the account would be closed and oh, thanks again for that. I never thought in a million years that she and Kris, oh yeah, he knew, would ever do this to us. I hope those implants are worth it because he just traded his family... for boobs.

Anyone that knows us is aware that we are rarely speechless, but that is the best way to describe it. We have called them repeatedly with no answer, and they will not talk to us or anyone in the family, except the one time that Amy did answer the phone to say " fuck you" to me. I bet that felt great!!!

We are mostly hurt and betrayed, but the longer they avoid us the more our hurt turns to venom. We have to talk each other down from the bell tower frequently( sorry Austin folks, sore subject? ), as we know that we are on the right side of this and we need to take the moral high ground. Money isn't everything. Right?

I don't think they understand what they have done, or what the legal repercussions will be. I want them to call me back and get this worked out, but I don't think they will and this will get really ugly for them. I wonder if she knows what this will do to her kids, all for a pair of boobs...

Upon being told this story, Connie summed up the situation nicely:

" Are you sure they were breast implants, because it sounds to me like she got a pair of BIG BRASS BALLS put in ??!!!! "

Below is the picture that she posted on her MySpace page ( I copied this and others before she limited access to it ). Worth it?

The caption under the picture said " holding 4800 dollars...lol"

Yes, lol, indeed.

Happy VD to all !!! and Yuck !!!!
I never get excited about Val Day - even when I was a little kid I was really underwhelmed with the whole thing.
1. I wasn't popular in school , therefore there was no chance of a sweetheart 2. we are not big holiday people - I mean its hard enough to get us to notice that its Christmas, so this day is way under the radar 3. Jason and I have always been broke during this time of the year because of the holidays, school, taxes, and this year is no different, mainly because we are still paying 2 different house payments until our old house sells...
BUT MOSTLY ...
4. I don't particularly like babies with lethal weapons... So that Cupid thing doesn't work for me. The arrow is not so scary, its that potentially lethal diaper...
I don't need flowers or candy to prove that Jason loves me...he shows me that he loves me everyday... he lets me win at burping contests... he pulls my finger when I ask him to... and he strokes the hair on my legs and feet while we watch TV at night. Ah, love...
